Amazon Kindle Review

Product Reivew: We purchased our eBook reader from Amazon.com for $189.00 which is a pretty kindle reviewgood price compared to the BeBook Neo ($299), Alex eReader ($399), and COOL-ER Classic ($249.00).

The Amazon Kindle is now “Thinner…lighter…faster…and better before” at least that’s what the Amazon video states. We’ve heard so much about the latest eBook (iBook) reader, we decided to review ourselves to see if it would live up to the hype. Not to mention, it’s been a while since we last blogged *smile*

Amazon kindleSo does the release of the latest Kindle separate itself from the pack? Does it warrant we visiting the various tech forums to sing its praises? Will we need to compare it against the iPad and Illiad?

The quick answer is “yes” this is the best eBook reader we’ve used. But no, comparing it to models like the iPad aren’t quite fair because a device like the iPad is more than just a ebook reader. And although we like to give new products a thorough testing, it’s not like we are breaking new ground by praising this new device—take a look on Amazon.com and you’ll see that almost 5,400 people have beaten us to the punch with favorable reviews.

From the moment we took it out of the box, it was quit apparent how slim and light the device, especially compared to the Sony reader. After turning it on, you could tell they’ve improved the screen contrast and there was a significant performance boost. Although we couldn’t verify page turning had become 20% faster, moving from page-to-page wasn’t a problem.

Some minor things we liked was the built in Adobe Reader so that PDFs could be viewed without the need for special software drivers). Another new feature is the “experimental” web browser, which was a logical evaluation since this device is most often compared to the iPad.

So no device is perfect, right? Well the only negatives we found with our little eBook reader are that the carrying case is still and add-on accessory (sold separately) and you can’t add external memory to the device.

But with only a few minor negatives and the new attractive price of $189.00, we would definitely recommend this device. If you are a patient person, you can probably find a few of these cheaper elsewhere like eBay or Amazon.com has used and refurbished models. So go ahead and enjoy the 1,000s of digital books or even audio books, which the device does support through audible.com.
